Plaza Organ Console, Stockport

Stockport Plaza’s Compton organ has sat proudly in the art deco cinema since it was built in 1932. A lift failure many years ago destroyed the original glazing and damaged the tower frames. We repaired the frames over a decade ago and since then Stockport Plaza Trust has collected archive material including some glass from a similar console. This has enabled us to replicate the glazing including the cloud textures, which are sandblasted deeply into the surface.

We assisted with project management of the work which was undertaken by Cheshire Stained Glass.
