In many cases, historic metalwork may be damaged, have components that are missing, corroded, beyond repair or lost completely over time.
By using surviving features, historical photographs, foundry illustrations, and other archival resources, we can accurately replicate missing elements. These reproductions are crafted using appropriate traditional materials and techniques, ensuring they are seamlessly reintroduced into the restoration project, preserving both the integrity and authenticity of the original piece.

We were commissioned to carry out a condition survey of fifteen pavement lights located on Dale Street in Manchester, including the adjoining side streets of Tariff Street and Port Street. During the inspection we identified multiple defects, including cracks and fractures within the ironwork as well as several missing or broken glass blocks.

This ornate cast iron fountain was installed in 1882 and gifted by Lord Provost Hugh Macpherson, a supporter of local welfare and industry. It is a Category C listed structure. Once common across the UK, public drinking fountains provided clean water to the public before indoor plumbing. Today only 18 listed fountains remain in Scotland, with only four predating this example. Believed to be made by a prominent Scottish foundry (though no maker’s mark was found), the fountain was heavily vandalised. The upper bowl and figurine had broken off, damaging the base and resulting in the loss of the entire upper section.

The cast iron Jubilee Clock was erected in 1887 at Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. It’s a beautiful, ornate clock decorated with dolphins and featuring a fluted circular column. During the late 20th century elements were removed including the weathervane, lanterns and fountain bowls.
